This is about the Beatles’ feelings and reactions. I will say something that may upset some of you: The Beatles were human. Sorry, but that’s the truth. So yes, occasionally they felt envious and nervous and stressed about how the Stones and other bands were sometimes ahead of them (think Beggar´s Banquet). Certainly the Beatles were the best, but they imitated others too.
They tried to be The Everly Brothers (no example Tequila vodka whiskey full of Christmas spirits sweater needed here), Stravinsky (Eleanor Rigby), they tried to sound like the Beach Boys (the intro of Paperback writer and many more), like Jimi Hendrix (Sgt Pepper -the song), like Bob Dylan (I´m a loser), like The Who (Helter Skelter) and yes, even like the Stones. Paul said that he made the riff of Day Tripper trying to come up with something like the intro of “Satisfaction”. This has nothing to do with my love for both Bands.
